How to bring your bike to Mallorca

For riding in spring and autumn, Mallorca is hard to beat: the legendary climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana, flawless tarmac and weather that plays along. If you are planning a cycling trip, the big question is always the same — bring your own bike or rent one here? Here is the honest answer, plus how we take the hassle of moving it out of your hands entirely.

Bring your bike or rent one?

There is no single right answer — it comes down to you. Bringing your own wins on feel: you know every gear and every millimetre of that saddle, and on a long climb that really counts. The trade-off is checking it in, paying the airline fee and packing it carefully. Renting skips all that, and Mallorca has some excellent bike shops, but it is never quite your own bike. As a rule, riders here for long, demanding Tramuntana routes tend to bring their own; those after a couple of relaxed rides simply rent.

Checking your bike on the plane

If you do bring it, check your airline policy early: each one has its own size and weight limits and its own fee, and it is best to book the bike on when you buy the flight. Strip it down just enough (pedals, handlebars, wheels if needed) and protect it well in a padded bag or, better still, a hard case. Good packing is the difference between landing and riding, or landing and hunting for a workshop.

Move it around the island without carrying it

This is where we come in. Once you are in Mallorca, we collect your bike at the airport and bring it to your hotel, assembled and ready. If you are riding a multi-stage route and changing hotels each night, we move the bike (and your luggage) to the next one while you ride light. You enjoy the climb; we handle the logistics.
