Guide to moving to Mallorca

Every year, thousands of people decide to make Mallorca home — many of them German and British. And moving to an island (or across it) always comes with paperwork and logistics. If you are settling here, this guide clears up the essentials so the move becomes the easy part and you can start enjoying island life sooner.

Plan your furniture transport

Start by deciding, sensibly, what is worth bringing and what is easier to buy once you are here. Coming from the mainland or abroad, groupage (sharing a truck with other shipments) cuts the cost of transport dramatically, even if it takes a little longer. And once on the island, a local move is quick and good value; for just a few things, an express man-with-a-van sorts your day.

Basic paperwork on arrival

In parallel, get the admin moving: town-hall registration (empadronamiento), your NIE if you do not have one yet, and utility contracts (electricity, water, internet). One tip from people who have done it: get a fixed address as early as you can, because almost everything else depends on having one.

Storage while you settle in

Still without a permanent home, or waiting on renovations? No problem. We keep your furniture in secure storage for a few months and bring it back the day you are ready. That way you move at your own pace, without a living room full of boxes.
